Supported academic Programs


SRB mission is to offer comprehensive coursework and services with the goal of helping students to succeed. The programs focus on academic instruction and tutoring, following careful assessment of students' writing, critical thinking, and mathematics capabilities.

Academic Programs

Academic programs include General Education courses in Critical Analysis, Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning, academic courses for non-native speakers of English; a Graduate College of Education course in teaching reading and writing; and a cooperative education field experience course in mentoring First-Year Seminar students.

Pre-Admission Program

Directions for Student Potential, an intensive alternative admissions program, is designed to strengthen academic skills for students entering the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Science and Mathematics. This program offers instruction in Verbal Skills, English for Non-native Speakers, and Mathematics.

Tutoring Programs

Academic Support Programs offers a variety of tutoring and tutorial formats to support students in their undergraduate and graduate coursework.

Workshops and Instructional Support

Academic Support Programs faculty and staff collaborate with departments across E-campus to strengthen undergraduate and graduate experiences. Tutors from both our undergraduate and graduate writing centers facilitate in-class workshops at faculty invitation and with faculty collaboration. Academic Support Programs also offers consulting for faculty seeking assistance in curriculum and pedagogical development in undergraduate and graduate programs across SRB. At invitation, Academic Support Programs provides advice to students and faculty who are in the process of creating and maintaining writing support groups.
